So in preparation for the wettest January in England’s history, I bought a cycling cape on eBay so that I’d be protected on my 2 mile ride to work.

The cape never arrived, the seller didn’t respond to questions, so I raised a case in the resolution centre. I thought that was all taken care of then, since eBay have banner ads all over their shop guaranteeing you get the item you ordered, or you get your money back.

However the seller did not respond to the resolution centre case, either. A win for me I thought, since they can’t be bothered to take part implies guilt by association.

Not so ! eBay have closed the case because they say if the seller doesn’t respond it indicates the dispute must have been resolved? How mad is that?

If I failed to turn up in a court case, I’d lose. If I fail to turn up at a sporting event the opposition win with a walkover. But in eBay their pseudo legal language made me think the laws of natural justice might be at work there too, but I was wrong.

Oh and there is no appeal to their decision either, so I’m taking the other option, which is to be annoyed so much I’ll write on a blog. Oh well I’ll stick to Amazon in future.

Incidentally I’m no newcomer to eBay, I’ve been on there with 100% feedback and 616 feedback entries for 16 years. See my profile
